Things We're About To Do...

Linux Server Farm

RIM Management is converting companies from Microsoft to Ubuntu and Linux based software at an ever increasing pace.
To improve our ability to service customers, we are actively pursuing Linux and Ubuntu certification.

Dog Fooding The Above

To ensure that we're not overlooking opportunities or challenges, we have converted all but two of our servers to Linux.
We still have a small business server running Exchange and a SQL Server holding all legacy data and files.

Ubuntu Networks

RIM Management is preparing to convert large companies, (2 to 1000 stations) from Windows to Ubuntu.
We are actively working on deployment strategies, LDAP & Kerberos authentication.
We have a small team working entirely in Ubuntu to determine best of breed and the exit points required to maintain production.
To date, we have only found two sticking points. Blackberry synchronization and Accounting packages.
Other than these soft spots, results on a Ubuntu only network have been very positive.

Dog Fooding The Above

To ensure that we're not overlooking opportunities or challenges, we have converted all but one of our stations to ubuntu.
We also discovered that running VMWare and hosting a Windows OS works better than dual booting.
We are considering running a terminal server inside VMWare so users can access Windows software from a single Linux server.
